POINT CARTWRIGHT SLOPES
The iconic Point Cartwright cliffs on Queensland's Sunshine Coast are susceptible to ongoing instability due to erosion of the cliff face material from wind and wave action.
CGC undertook a remote aerial mapping campaign to create a high precision digial map and developed a 3D model to assess the risks of the cliff with respect to slope instability. The remote mapping technology provided information on the potential slope hazards, removing the need to for rope access.
The digital slope mapping and hazard identification information was used to facilitate the replacement of the lighthouse radar using a crane, which was positioned at the crest of the 25m high cliffs. The end result was a highly detailed 3D model providing precise detection of the site hazards and mitigating strategies for our client.
