The iconic Point Cartwright cliffs on Queensland's Sunshine Coast are susceptible to on going instability due to erosion of the cliff face material.
Recently CGC undertook a slope risk assessment and 3D mapping of the cliff face to facilitate the replacement of the lighthouse radar using a crane, which needed to be placed in close proximity to the crest of the 20m plus high cliffs.
Utilising CGC's unique 3D digital mapping techniques and workflows, a highly detailed 3D model of the site was developed. This enabled precise detection of the geological and geotechnical hazards of the site and digitally mapped the slope defect orientations, allowing for appropriate mitigation measures to be implemented.
CGC's digital slope risk mapping is a fast, precise and safe method of assessing slope risk, removing the need for rope assess or traversing potentially unstable slopes.
